Lost In Translation

A guy in my Spanish class told us a very funny story.

He was once in a club in Peru, and a lady asked him in Spanish if he would like to dance.

He replied by saying "si bailas conmigo, serás embarazado".

The lady replied by saying "¿porque? ¿cómo bailas?"

Translation:

What he meant: "If you dance with me, you will get embarrassed"

What he actually said was: "If you dance with me, you will get pregnant"

To which she replied: "Why, how do you dance?"

Moral of the story, embarazado does not mean embarrassed in Spanish. It means pregnant. Verguenza means embarrassed.
